What is Ramadan?

Ramadan is a holy month in Islam when Muslims fast from dawn to sunset to practice self-discipline and spiritual reflection. It’s also a time for prayer, charity, and community. The month ends with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, a joyous celebration.

What is the meaning of Halal?

Halal is an Arabic word meaning “permissible.” In Islam, it describes food and drinks that meet certain religious guidelines, such as meat from healthy animals slaughtered humanely and foods made without forbidden ingredients like pork or alcohol. Even if you’re not Muslim, halal food can be appealing because it emphasizes cleanliness, quality, and careful preparation, making it a healthy and ethical choice for anyone.

Who Can Celebrate Ramadan Fest?

Surrey's Ramadan Fest is an open invitation to all to share the warmth and festivities of this holy month, regardless of background or belief. It’s the perfect spot for the muslim community, families, night owls, food lovers and cultural explorers. With festival hours until 3 AM, there’s plenty of time to enjoy food, shopping, and experience the culture. There will also be free parking! As the organizers, Salaam Events, put it, “Think of it like a Christmas market, except it’s Ramadan themed!
