Water Sports

With its spectacular natural scenery, diverse landscape and wealth of green spaces, Surrey is a haven for outdoor adventurers. One popular year-round attraction for locals and visitors alike is South Surrey’s Crescent Beach.

The boardwalk, that view, the lapping tide, and an abundance of restaurants and shops make Crescent Beach a natural playground and a perfect setting for making memories. Over six kilometers of shoreline and trails make for a picturesque walk filled with biodiversity. Keep your eyes open for hermit crabs, sand dollars, sea stars and other marine life that can be found during low tide. You might even be lucky enough to glimpse harbour seals in the water or Grey Whales spouting on the horizon of Boundary Bay! There’s plenty to keep you entertained on land, but why stop there? Enjoying the water from a distance is one thing, but enjoying the water ON the water is a whole other story… whether you’re navigating the Pacific Ocean’s choppy waters in a kayak or breathing in the tranquil scenery from a stand up paddle board.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding, or SUPing, is the next best thing to walking on water! With its roots in Hawaii, modern stand-up paddle boarding has understandably taken the world by storm; it’s relaxing, easy, and provides a full-body workout. It’s an amazing way to get out of your comfort zone… and because you’re standing it offers a unique perspective of the landscape!  But if you’d rather enjoy your water adventures from a seated position, then kayaking is where it’s at! There’s nothing like gliding through the water on a sunny afternoon without the worry of getting wet!

Rent your kayaks and paddleboards right at the beach from the Crescent Beach Paddleshack. And if you need some lessons or a refresher course, you can book an introductory lesson from the Paddleshack or with David Dreves Kayaking
