Surrey Spark Stages

Igniting imaginations and making memories.

As Canadians, we celebrate our diverse cultural heritage, and the growth of our younger generations to learn and explore what this country, and this planet, has to offer. In Surrey, this isn’t any different, and we want to inspire our children to greater possibilities. This is where the Surrey SPARK Stages come in.

Evolved from the Surrey International Children’s Festival, Surrey SPARK Stages is a year-long celebration of the performing arts specifically for kids and families that kicks off with an exciting weekend of festivities every May.

This year, the celebrations kick-off on Saturday, May 25 at the Surrey Arts Centre with Main Stage performances by Lightwire Theatre, of America’s Got Talent fame and Australia’s Arena Theatre.

Get ready to be dazzled by Lightwire Theatre’s Dino-Light! This glowing performance combines technology, light, and dance to tell the story of a curious dinosaur exploring a magical world. Stick around for a Q&A session after the show to learn more about their incredible techniques

Experience Robot Song, a touching tale inspired by real life. Join Juniper, an 11-year-old navigating life on the autism spectrum, as she finds strength in her differences with the help of her family and a singing robot. This heartwarming story is a beacon of hope for kids and parents alike, celebrating diversity and the power of acceptance.

Don’t miss out on the Studio Theatre lineup featuring The Libravian by Ireland’s Brú Theatre and Falling in Africa, an exciting musical dance show by Juno award-winning musician Garth Prince from Edmonton.

And for the little ones, catch Tree, a delightful multi-sensory performance for babies and toddlers by Théâtre Motus from Quebec.

During the weekend, the Surrey Arts Centre will be sprinkled with a magical sparkle dusting in the form of plenty of value-added activities for ticket holders to enjoy like puppet making, dancing, delightful pop-up performances, and many other “sparkalicious” surprises!

Plus ticketholders can enjoy extra fun all weekend long with drop-in Bollywood dance lessons with Karima Essa, story-times, puppet making and mind-blowing close-up magic by Travis Bernhardt.
