June Events in Surrey

What’s happening in Surrey in June? Summer is well and truly just around the corner, and we are counting down the days until the end of school!  Gear up for summer by filling your calendar with these fun family events and celebrations happening all over Surrey, BC.

Surrey Greek Food Festival
Be sure to bring your appetite to the Surrey Greek Food Festival. From Souvlaki and Spanokopita to Bougatsa and Baklava, you’ll be sure to find something delicious to tempt your tastebuds.  And in addition to great food, enjoy folk dancing representing various regions of Greece, and performances from around the world. The Surrey Greek Food Festival runs from June 7 – 16, 2019.  (13181 96 Ave & 132 Street)

Surrey Doors Open
“Discover the story behind every door” on June 8th from 11am to 4pm for the 8th annual (you guessed it) Surrey Doors Open event. “What’s Surrey Doors Open?” you ask?  It’s a free celebration that showcases Surrey’s diverse neighbourhoods, highlighting 27 of the unique places and spaces found throughout Cloverdale, Newton, South Surrey and City Centre. It’s a behind-the-scenes look into Surrey’s rich culture, history, art and architecture.

Father’s Day Open House
This free event at the Historic Stewart Farm is perfect for families and will feature a display of large scale locomotives and accessories from the Greater Vancouver Garden Railway Club. You can make your own conductor’s hat, go for a train ride, and take a break with lemonade and baked treats made on the wood burning stove in the farmhouse. Celebrate Dad on June 16 from 11am – 3pm. Surrey Pride Party in the Plaza
Surrey Pride Party In The Plaza is celebrating its 20th anniversary on June 29 in the Central City Shopping Plaza. Celebrate with drag performances, spoken word, vendor booths, Central City Brewing sponsored beer garden and live music. There will be a family zone set up inside SFU Surrey, in addition to a cultural expo where you can learn about the history of Surrey Pride. Join the party from 3pm – 8pm. National Indigenous Peoples Day
Surrey’s National Indigenous Peoples Day event brings together First Nations, Metis and Inuit families through a celebration of the culture and traditions of Indigenous People. The event will showcase traditional games, crafts, activities and sports; traditional and non-traditional food sampling; cultural sharings, storytelling and performances. Surrey’s National Indigenous Peoples Day takes place on June 21 from 3pm – 8pm.  (Holland Park, 13428 Old Yale Road)
