Car Free Day Surrey

Surrey’s first annual Car Free Day will take place Saturday, June 11 in Newton! Presented by the Newton Business Improvement Association in partnership with TransLink, the event will transform 137th Street into a pedestrian paradise of entertainment stages, artisan vendors, local merchants and family-friendly fun!

Leave the car at home (or park a distance away and walk or transit) and explore a walkable street festival with fun and entertainment for the entire family. Car Free Day Surrey is a chance to explore the idea of what a city could look like if it were created for pedestrians, not vehicles. Car Free Days are designed to encourage motorists to give up their cars for a day, and the event highlights all of the benefits that accompany less driving like reduced air pollution and promoting walking, cycling and sustainable urban transportation.  And, as such, there won’t be any parking provided for the event … though there are plenty of places to park a little further away.

Enjoy live music, DJs and dance performances, a family zone, interactive exhibits and a beer garden that will take over the street. The family zone will have face painting, a bouncy castle, and family entertainers including the Robin Reddy Show, MomBop, Matt Henry, balloon twisters and jugglers!

The main stage will be hopping with performances by headliner Ashleigh Ball (of Hey Ocean! fame), Daysormay, Meltt, Naduh, Á’a:líya, The Jins, Peak and Tess Anderson.

Watch for the Discover Surrey Mobile Visitors Team, who will be onsite with information about things to see and do in the Newton neighbourhood, and beyond. Be sure to spin the trivia wheel for your chance to win some fun Discover Surrey swag!

Taking place rain or shine from noon to 8 p.m. on 137th street between 72A Ave & 74 Ave, Car-Free Day Surrey is free for all to attend.
