For those that start blasting the holiday music in November, enjoy once-a-year cups of speciality coffee, and decorate every available surface with lights and tinsel; this event was made for you.
Every year, Surrey kicks off the holiday season with the annual Surrey Tree Lighting Festival. This free, family-friendly event is filled with amazing light displays, a Holiday Market, amusement rides, and all things bright and merry.
The Tree
Now we’re not saying that the bigger the display, the more holiday spirit, but if that were the case, Surrey might just be the merriest city of all! At the centre of a Civic Plaza stands Surrey’s 60-foot Christmas tree decorated with giant holiday ornaments, lights and a star tree-topper. The tree will be lit at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, and will stay lit until early January 2023.
Bright Lights
The plaza comes alive with immersive light experiences, including a 40-foot light tunnel, archways, giant ornaments, photo opportunities and more. And be sure to visit the Holiday Market with over 25 local vendors featuring unique gifts that make perfect stocking stuffers, live music and 500 feet of waterfall lights.
Merry Music
This year’s musical performances are fit for the season, and this diverse group of entertainers will be on one of two stages throughout the day to get you in a holiday frame of mind. This year’s performers include the VOC Sweet Soul Gospel Choir, Motown Tribute with Krystle Dos Santos & Mike Henry, Pat Chessell & Friends, Matt Cook-Contois & Erick Severinson, Cookin’ With Brass, Francis Baptiste, the Royal City Youth Ballet, Ashley Pater, the North Surrey Breakers and so many more!
Kid-Friendly
If you’ve got a tot who’s been itching to visit with Santa, you’re in luck. The man in red will be available for photos in a dedicated kid’s zone inside the North Pole. Visit the Letters to Santa Station, free rides, music, magic and a dance party.
Enchanted Eats
What event is complete without delicious treats to keep you warm? Snack on apple-cider spiced doughnuts, or sip a latte from the Insomniac Coffee Co. truck. Delicious and traditional Mexican cuisine from Taco N Todo, Japanese Hawaiian fusion dishes from Kyu Grill, mouth-watering burgers from B&B Gourmet Burgers and authentic Metis Bannock from the Bannock Queen are food trucks to choose from, but who says you have to pick just one?
Light up your holiday with the famous Surrey Tree Lighting Festival!
