If you’re not from Surrey, but have always wondered what all the fuss is about, then we might have the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. If you are from Surrey and need a great staycation, then we‘ve got good news. Being a tourist in your own hometown is where it’s at!
“Discover the story behind every door” on June 8th from 11am to 4pm for the 8th annual (you guessed it) Surrey Doors Open event. “What’s Surrey Doors Open?” you ask? It’s a free celebration that showcases Surrey’s diverse neighbourhoods, highlighting 27 of the unique places and spaces found throughout Cloverdale, Newton, South Surrey and City Centre. It’s a behind-the-scenes look into Surrey’s rich culture, history, art and architecture.
You can walk, bike, or drive from venue to venue, but Surrey is big. If you want to leave the driving to us and really relax, then take advantage of the free Hop-on, Hop-off trollies being provided in Cloverdale and Whalley especially for the event. Each route loops around every 45 minutes; look for schedules posted at venues.
So what kind of venues can you expect to be touring? We’ve listed some of our favourites below:
- The Surrey Animal Resource Centre

- Surrey Fire Services Hall No.8 Cloverdale
- Honeybee Centre
- City Centre Library and City Hall
- Surrey Archives
