May Events in Surrey

May signals the transition from spring to summer and the start of festival season. Swap those rubber boots for cowboy boots and check out Surrey’s May events.

Cloverdale Rodeo
A May Long Weekend tradition for many involves strapping on those cowboy boots and heading over to the Cloverdale Rodeo! The Rodeo is far from a one-trick-pony, there’s SO much to do and see, so if saddle bronc riding isn’t your cup of tea, there’s midway and carnival rides, live musical performances and skateboard competitions, just to name a few. The Cloverdale Rodeo is on from May 17 – 20, 2019.

Children’s Festival
Another annual crowd-pleaser is the Surrey International Children’s Festival. Dedicated entirely to entertaining and educating kiddos, the Children’s Festival has inspired the community to experience new things and to encourage children to become patrons of the arts. This year’s theme is “Seriously” as in let’s have some serious fun. Spanning over three days from May 23rd to 25th, there are story telling tents, musical performances, arts and crafts, and so much more!

Mother’s Day
Treat Mom to a stroll in the Glades Garden, one of Surrey’s most beautiful gardens. Walk along the beautiful blooming rhododendrons, pause at the reflection gardens and breathe in the fresh air of this woodland garden. The cost is $5 for those who pre-register by calling 604-501-5100 or registering online. There are 2 sessions this year, 10am – 1pm and 1pm – 4pm. Tickets are $7 at the door, and this event will take place rain or shine.

Royal Victorian Party
All hail her Majesty, the Queen! The whole family can enjoy this regal event with live dancing, birthday cake and a chance to meet the woman who had a whole era named after her – Queen Victoria. Pack a picnic, play croquet and spend a free day with your family on the scenic grounds. Royal costumes are optional, but encouraged! Join the Royal Victorian Party at Historic Stewart Farm, May 19, 2019.
