Lunar New Year Celebrations
Ring in the Year of the Pig in Surrey. There’s lots of ways to celebrate fit for the whole family, like the Chinese New Year Celebration at the Surrey Museum, filled with festive cuisine and textile displays. Head to the Surrey Museum (17710 56a Avenue) on February 9th from 1 to 4:00pm and cheer on the Dragon and Lion dances!
The Lunar New Year Fest kicks off at Central City Shopping Centre (10153 King George Boulevard) on February 2nd from 10:00am to 2:00pm for cultural music, dance, crafts, lucky draws, giveaways, and a traditional Lion dance!
Family Day
Family Day this year lands on February 18th and is the perfect occasion for establishing new traditions. A good old-fashioned family pass time is taking up a game of Monopoly or Clue. The Surrey Museum is putting on a day of family fun board games on Family Day from 1 to 4:00pm.
The Historic Stewart Farm (13723 Crescent Road) is hosting a variety of family friendly events and even some goodies from the woodstove on Family Day from Noon to 3:00pm.
Music
Canadian legend and children’s singer Fred Penner will perform in Surrey at the Surrey Arts Centre on February 9th at 7:00pm. Re-live your favourite classic songs, and introduce your youngsters to The Cat Came Back.
