Opening Day of the Surrey Urban Farmers Market
June 11 | 10 am to 3 pm
Royal Kwantlen Park
Saturdays, starting June 11, plan to bring the family and spend the morning (or afternoon) shopping for local produce, prepared foods, confectionaries, live music, unique artisan crafts and more at the Surrey Urban Farmers Market. The market is focusing on community sharing and educational awareness about our environment and how what we are used to day to day has an impact on this. Vendors are local and they have to make/bake/grow/raise/wild harvest the products they bring to the market.
Car Free Day Surrey
137th Street between 72A Ave & 74 Ave
Surrey’s first annual Car Free Day will take place Saturday, June 11 in Newton! Presented by the Newton Business Improvement Association in partnership with TransLink, the event will transform 137th Street into a pedestrian paradise of entertainment stages, artisan vendors, local merchants and family-friendly fun! Enjoy live music, DJs and dance performances, a family zone, interactive exhibits and a beer garden that will take over the street. And watch for the Discover Surrey mobile visitor information centre with tips on fun things to see and do and swag giveaways!
5X Block Party
Canada’s largest South Asian youth culture celebration takes place in Surrey this June. 5X Block Party is an all-ages, outdoor event featuring headlining performances by award-winning Indian-American singer Jasmine Sandlas, Indo-Canadian hip-hop star The PropheC, popular Surrey-based spoken-word artist Robyn Sandhu, and more. Festival tickets include concert access, an array of food vendors, art installations, a merch area and the “finest brown escapist experience you’ve ever encountered”.
Magical QUIRK-E Tour
June 11 | 2 pm to 4 pm
Museum of Surrey
QUIRK-E, The Queer Imaging and Riting Kollective for Elder, will be at the Museum of Surrey on Saturday, June 11 from 2 pm to 4 pm, to share cartoons, videos, short films, songs, a scene from a play, stories and poems. QUIRK-E is a collective of twenty-two queer artists. Most of them have been political and cultural activists since the ‘60s and ‘70s and continue to advocate for justice and social change today. Drop-in. For ages 14+.
June 18 | 11 am – 4 pm
Head to Holland Park on June 18 for a day of fun and community celebration at Surrey Fest! There will be vendors, music, prizes, and entertainment for the whole family. This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the festival. There is always something new or different for preschoolers, children, youth, adults, and seniors at the festival. As many as 4,000 people visit the festival each year to view the exhibits as well as enjoy food and live entertainment.
Father’s Day at Historic Stewart Farm
June 19 | 12 pm – 4 pm
Historic Stewart Farm
Celebrate Dad with trains and history at Historic Stewart Farm. The theme of the weekend is Victorian Gadgets and Gizmos! The Greater Vancouver Garden Railway Club will also be onsite with a large-scale model railway display on the lawn. With some locomotive inspiration, head to Stewart Hall to make a train-themed Father’s Day card. The farmhouse will be open for drop-in visits as well.
National Indigenous Peoples Day
June 21 | 3 pm to 8 pm
Join Surrey’s National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration and Wellness Event on Tuesday, June 21 from 3 to 8 pm at Holland Park. Hosted by the local land-based First Nations, Semiahma (Semiahmoo), q̓ʷɑ:n̓ƛ̓ən̓ (Kwantlen), and q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), this Indigenous-led event is an opportunity to acknowledge and show respect and admiration for Indigenous Peoples past, present and future; to share cultural history; and to share spirit, experiences, stories, song, art and dance with each other and the community.
Royal Canadian Circus
June 23 – 26
The Royal Canadian Circus is coming to the Cloverdale Fairgrounds! This exciting show includes Daredevil extraordinaire, Joseph Dominik Bauer of Switzerland on the Wheel of Destiny, the thrilling flying trapeze artist Claudia Alvarado of Mexico, the astounding Chicago Boyz Acrobatic Team from America’s Got Talent, and the powerhouse Globe of Death. Plus, you’ll see incredible feats of balance and strength as Gimmi Fornaciari from Italy goes high in the air and sings soprano, a Laser Show, a Human Slinky, the beautiful TZ Ladies of the Air and so much more. The Royal Canadian International Circus 2022 is about giving children and adults alike a glimpse into a traditional world where everyone can enjoy a truly affordable show together regardless of age.
SENSES 2022 – Family Summer Kick Off
Start your summer right at Museum of Surrey! The Senses Family Summer Kick-Off runs from 1-4 pm with sensory-friendly activities inside and out. Meet Raj the Raccoon, blow bubbles, make crafts and enjoy sensory kits and beach-themed sensory bins. Community partners will be onsite to make the celebration even better! Tour the museum during the free event too.
Surrey Pride Festival
June 25 | 4 pm to 9 pm
Plaza at Central City Shopping Centre
The theme of this year’s Surrey Pride Festival is “Open Minds and Open Hearts”. Head to the plaza at Central City Shopping Centre on June 25 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm for an evening celebrating love, diversity, and inclusivity. 2022 marks the 23rd anniversary of Surrey’s Pride Festival and the event, emcee’d by Myria Le Noir, Mz Adrien and Ra, will feature an all-local lineup of live musical entertainment, lip-sync performances and a fabulous lineup of drag performers, including Justin Abit, Jaylene Tyme, Carlotta Gurl, Alter, Jolene and Summer Clearance. Don’t miss musical performances by Jesse Schulte, Patrick Masse, Jason Qui, Reckless – The Ultimate Bryan Adams Tribute Band and Short Notice Band. And be sure to visit the vendor booths set up on 102 Avenue, which will be closed to traffic. This free and inclusive festival reminds us that Pride is for everyone.
The Long, Long Table
