Join the community for the annual Salmon Send-Off — a Surrey tradition where families gather to release Coho and Chinook smolts into the Serpentine River, sending them on their journey back to the ocean!
Operated by the Serpentine Enhancement Society (Tynehead Hatchery), this free event supports the restoration of salmon populations in the local watershed and offers a wonderful mix of educational activities and family fun.
What's On
Take part in releasing salmon fry, explore hatchery tours, and learn how salmon are raised from egg to smolt. Fundraising activities include fishing for trout, opening oysters for pearls, assembling a salmon life cycle in a bottle to take home, duck races, and a concession on site.
All proceeds go directly back into the hatchery for equipment and food for the fish.
Admission: Free entry.
Fundraising activities available on site. Please note: cash only — no card payments due to limited wifi on hatchery grounds.
