If it’s a walk in the park you’re looking for, look no further than Surrey, BC. But if it’s a complex and compelling nature story you’re on the hunt for, Green Timbers Urban Forest should be your first stop.
After all, Green Timbers is known as the birthplace of reforestation in British Columbia. At a time when roads were being built and homes erected, Green Timbers’ renaissance sparked Surrey’s passion for greenery. The second-growth forest could tell many tales if it were given the chance. And lucky for us, it does.
The Surrey Nature Centre is nestled among the trees at Green Timbers Urban Forest, and is dedicated to educating our young ones about the importance of green spaces. The Surrey Nature Centre has plenty of indoor and outdoor activities to keep young minds buzzing. So drop in or plan your visit and get ready to explore!
If hiking and trails are your passion, pick up a Discover Backpack from the Surrey Nature Centre to take things to the next level. The backpack is full of activities to make sure you make the very best of your visit to the park. Fishing Rods are also available to rent (for free!) to be taken to the lake in the park for a shot at the old fashioned fishing game. Every third Saturday of the month, you can take-part in Nature Walks around the park.
Once you’ve had a chance to take in the wonders of the forest, return to the Nature Centre for Nature Story Times and an Exploration Room full of tactical treats like building blocks and crafts.
So get your boots dirty and your minds active, and visit a little slice of Surrey dedicated to keeping things green.
