We’re fa la la la la-ing all the way to Surrey’s Civic Plaza this winter for the magical new Surrey Holiday Lights event! From Thursday, November 27 to Thursday, December 23, 2021, Surrey’s Civic Plaza will shine bright with a dazzling collection of light displays and activities.
The Holiday Lights Tent will be filled with exhibits ranging from the beloved animatronic Woodward’s window, “Santa and His Elves” on loan from Canada Place, a twinkly canopy of lights, a Lights Around the World display featuring the Taj Mahal, an elegant Chinese Lantern Gate and the internationally flavoured Gingerbread Village, a Holiday Market, and the North Pole Stage with live music featuring holiday classics, contemporary music and a production of The Christmas Musical starring Mrs. Claus.
Outside centres on Surrey’s spectacular, 60-foot Christmas tree, which is decorated with giant holiday ornaments, lights and a star tree-topper. The outdoor Snowflake Stage will be home to carolers, roving musicians and sing-a-longs. And family favourites the Robin Reddy Show and Bobs & Lolo will host performances for the kids inside the Holiday Lights tent. And don’t miss the Tunnel of Light, and illuminated sculptures, the perfect setting for those selfies!
And naturally, Santa will be there at certain times (5:30 – 6:45 pm and 7:30 – 8:45 pm) for photos! The set has been created in such a way that kids (and kids at heart) will be positioned at a safe distance, but the unique camera angle will make it look as if they’re together in the final photo.
Get a jump start on your Christmas shopping list at the Holiday Market. The marketplace will showcase local artisans, Christmas crafts and Indigenous artists.
Hungry? Stop by Enchanted Eats for a selection of the City’s best food trucks and the Polar Bar for delicious gourmet hot chocolate and coffee, and drinks for all ages.
