Skateboarding into the 2020 Olympic Games

Grab your skateboards and start practicing your kickflips! The Cloverdale Youth Park in Surrey will soon be home to the 2019 Canada Skateboard National Event Series. On June 15th, come see some of the top skateboarders compete for the Pacific Open. The Pacific Open is the first stop for Canadian skateboarders to determine their national rank as they head into the qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. This street discipline competition will surely be an exciting event to check out with the family!

This event will notably have the honour of the attendance of Rose Archie. Archie is a famous indigenous skateboarder, and has become an important leader in the Canadian skateboard community. She is attending as the guest judge for the Pacific Open.

Finally, the event will also be attended by the Surrey Rides program. Run by the City of Surrey, Surrey Rides is a competition for youths under the age of 21. It includes skateboard, scooter, and bikes events. The competitions will run all summer and participants will have the opportunity to win prizes!

The Pacific Open competition kicks off at 12 pm with the women’s competition and is soon followed by the mens.
