Make Mother’s Day Special in Surrey

New and seasoned moms alike know why Sunday, May 14 is a special day. And if you’re the lucky son or daughter of one of these ladies, we’re here to remind you, just in case it has slipped your mind. That’s right. It’s Mother’s Day … that one day of the year to celebrate the woman who’s fed you, clothed you, kept you safe, and put your needs before hers, time and time again. For those who don’t have a mom to spoil, it’s also a nice opportunity to honour the mother figures in our lives… the aunts, sisters, friends and fairy godmothers who’ve stepped up during tough times and played that oh-so-important role. So how, in one short day, do we thank Mom for a lifetime of sacrifice? Well, some quality time, flowers and a delicious meal might be a good start!

Take mom for a stroll at one of Surrey’s glorious gardens, and add a splash of colour to her patio, front entrance or garden with a visit to one of Surrey’s fabulous garden centres!

Glades Woodland Garden – Celebrate Mother’s Day weekend at The Glades Woodland Garden. Enjoy live music, a beautiful stroll through the blooms, and sit and enjoy a picnic on the south lawn overlooking the pond. During Mother’s Day weekend, the garden is bursting with colour. Rhododendrons reaching up to 6 metres tall drip with blooms and textured leaves, vibrant azaleas dazzle with their showy flowers, and a stunning collection of companion plants and heritage trees fill the garden. Purchase tickets in advance. (457 172 Street)

Darts Hill Garden Park – The garden offers visitors an ideal place to unwind, connect with nature and take in an amazing collection of rare and precious plants from all over the world. Darts Hill is considered a plantsman’s garden, which means that it is devoted to showcasing the finest examples of plants available that will succeed in the garden. The result is a beautiful collection of mature trees, shrubs and perennials among winding mossy pathways and open lawns. The gates are open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until the end of September. (16th Avenue and 170th Street)
