Let's Play Softball!
Head to Softball City in South Surrey and cheer for the home team, or your favourite team!
The Canada Cup International Softball Championship has been a summer fixture in Surrey since 1993. The 2023 event is on track to be the largest in tournament (and Canada’s) history, with more than 1,500 athletes confirmed to compete at South Surrey’s Softball City. With past, present, and future Olympians all taking part, the tournament is considered one of the most high-profile events on the fastpitch calendar for college recruitment,
The tournament features five divisions: Showcase Select and Showcase Gold (under 16s), Futures Select and Futures Gold (under 19s) divisions, and international women’s fastpitch. This year, some of the highest-ranked women’s teams in the world will take to the diamond for the women’s competition, including Canada, Australia, Greece, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico and TC Colorado. The roster for Team Canada includes Surrey locals Kianna Jones, Grace Messmer, Madelyn McKinnon and all-star pitcher and Olympian Sara Groenewegen.
Futures Gold (18U) teams and Showcase Gold (16U) teams will play a minimum of seven games, with a double knockout championship round, and for the first time, the Canada Cup will serve as a qualifier event for the Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series in August 2023. The winners from the Gold Divisions will earn a direct berth into the championships.
Food trucks, vendors and entertainment will be on site all weekend, and while you’re visiting Surrey be sure to check out some of the neighbouring businesses around South Surrey!
