June in Surrey is buzzing — and there's never been a better reason to get outside and explore. From car-free street festivals and cultural celebrations to world-class food, live performances, and the last of the season's blooms, this month has something for everyone. Whether you're a longtime local, welcoming visitors from out of town, or simply looking for your next great day out, consider this your guide to making the most of June in Surrey.
Car Free Day Surrey
One of Surrey's favourite summer traditions, Car Free Day returns to Newton on June 6, 12–8 PM! Presented by the Newton Business Improvement Association in partnership with TransLink, the event transforms 137th Street into a pedestrian paradise of live music across three stages, a welcome ceremony at 3:30 PM, a lively artisan market, mini golf, a climbing wall, bounce houses, and a fantastic lineup of local food trucks. A perfect day out for locals, culture seekers, and anyone showing friends and family what Surrey is all about.

Opening Day of the Surrey Urban Farmers Market
The Surrey Urban Farmers Market is back! Starting June 13, spend your Saturdays at Royal Kwantlen Park browsing fresh local produce, prepared foods, sweet treats, and handcrafted goods from the makers, bakers, and growers who call Surrey home. This vibrant, multicultural market is more than a shopping trip — live entertainment, community workshops, and kids' activities make it a full morning (or afternoon) out for the whole family. A great way to connect with the community behind the products you love.
Surrey Pride Festival
The free Surrey Pride Festival returns for its 27th anniversary on June 20, 2026, at Surrey Central Mall Plaza (102 Ave), for a day of live music, DJ sets, drag shows, lip-sync battles, and Drag Queen Storytime. Whether you're a proud member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community or an ally, the festival welcomes everyone with vendors, community resources, performance art, and plenty of rainbow spirit. Come celebrate love, diversity, and inclusion at one of Surrey's most beloved annual events!
Cloverdale Summer Music Festival
From late June through August, Surrey's Heritage Railway transforms into an outdoor music destination. The Cloverdale Summer Music Festival brings live local musical performances to the station's outdoor patio every weekend, running from June 27 through August 30, 2026. It's a wonderful way to extend your visit — arrive early for a train ride and stay on for the music, or simply come for the afternoon atmosphere. Performers range from emerging local acts to professional musicians, all set against the charm of the historic Cloverdale Station.
Father's Day Celebrations
Father's Day falls on June 21, 2026 and Surrey has plenty of ways to make Dad feel celebrated. Head to Historic Stewart Farm on June 20 for Hats Off to Dad — a free drop-in event with heritage demonstrations, lawn games, crafts, and refreshments on the farm's beautiful grounds. For the outdoorsy dad, June 13–15 is BC's Family Fishing Weekend, when the province waives the requirement for a freshwater fishing licence. Head to Green Timbers Urban Forest to cast a line for Rainbow Trout, and if you don't have gear, free rod and tackle rentals are available at the Surrey Nature Centre. Not sure what else to do? We've rounded up even more ways to celebrate Dad right here in Surrey. Learn more →

Bird Watching
Peak birding season in Surrey is winding down — and that means now is the time to get outside before the migratory birds move on. Surrey sits along the Pacific Flyway, a major migratory corridor, making it a remarkable destination for spotting shorebirds, ducks, eagles, and more. For a truly memorable experience, book a Birds & Brews guided walk with local expert Kris Cu. As you explore one of Surrey's birding hotspots, you'll learn to identify local and migratory species, hear stories from the field, and gain insight into the vital role conservation plays in protecting our feathered friends — then wind down with a coffee at Crescent Coffee House. No experience needed — just curiosity and comfortable shoes. Book your spot →
Art Experiences
June is a rich month for the arts in Surrey. On June 5, don't miss Coastal City Ballet's Swan Lake at the Surrey Arts Centre — a full-length, traditional production celebrating the company's 15th anniversary, promising a breathtaking evening of classical dance. Before the curtain falls on June, make time for Surrey Art Gallery's In the Shadow of the Pavilions: Expo 86 and Contemporary Art — a fascinating exhibition developed for Expo 86's 40th anniversary, featuring over 50 artists and archival materials spanning 1984 to 1988, closing June 7 with a free Family Art Party. Over at the Museum of Surrey, the Indigenous Hall is currently home to Sharing Stories, a powerful exhibition showcasing artwork from the Cedar, Sage and Sweetgrass Indigenous Art Collective — on display until June 21. Admission to both the Surrey Art Gallery and Museum of Surrey is always free, making either a great addition to any day out in the city.
Spring Gardens
June is your last chance to experience Surrey's gardens in full bloom. The Glades Woodland Garden — home to over 3,500 mature rhododendrons, azaleas, and heritage trees — is open weekends until June 28, and once those doors close, they won't reopen until next May. If you haven't visited yet this season, now is the time — tickets are required and sell out fast. Surrey's other feature gardens, including Darts Hill, are also worth exploring as the season draws to a close. Don't miss Surrey's gardens this season.
