Favourite End-of-Summer Picnic Places

Home to over 200 parks and 6,000 acres of parkland, Surrey has established a longstanding reputation as being the ‘City of Parks’.  With that much green space, it is incredibly difficult to narrow down the list of the best places to enjoy an end-of-summer picnic, although, we can attempt! Here we have just a few examples of beautiful parks that would make the perfect picnic destination to end summer on a high note. 

Crescent Beach | Blackie Spit

Located side-by-side, either one of these parks would be an excellent choice for a summer picnic. Enjoy swimming in the ocean, a plethora of grass and sand sitting areas, as well as gorgeous views of Mud Bay and the North Shore Mountains. Be sure to visit on a clear evening, as you’ll witness a breathtaking Surrey sunset.    

Bear Creek Park

Ideal for families, Bear Creek Park is bustling with people and has a variety of amenities available for your use. Keep the kids busy with a running track, various playgrounds, an outdoor pool, and even a small water park! The park is beautifully maintained, therefore, be sure to check out the spectacular big gardens full of an array of flowers. 

Redwood Park

This park is an outdoor paradise within the city limits! Redwood Park is a must-see with various exotic trees brought to Surrey from all over the world that has created a magical forest. With many trails and peaceful clearings, this park is ideal for a serene afternoon picnic. Upon your visit, make sure to revel in the largest stand of Redwood trees north of the 49th parallel.

Brownsville Bar Park

Brownsville Bar Park is located directly underneath the Patella Bridge, along the Fraser River. Due to its unique location, this park feels tucked away, almost like it’s Surrey’s hidden gem. It is an ideal, tranquil place to come and unwind, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. While visiting, be sure to take in the spectacular views of Fraser River and New Westminster skyline.

Peace Arch Provincial Park
Peace Arch Border, BC-99

Located right next to the Peace Arch Border Crossing, this park is a beautifully kept picnic haven. There are many vibrant gardens scattered about, and even a pathway down leading to the waterfront. This park is perfect for families, with a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere. Try visiting here in the evening, as the sunset can be incredible.
