The Afghan Kitchen, which is also on Surrey’s Spice Trail, serves authentic Afghan cuisine, and each mouth-watering dish uses recipes from the owner’s mother. Menu highlights include Salt Roasted Beets, Chicken Qorma, Lamb Shank with Qabuli Palaw  – a rice pilaf with carmelized carrots, raisins and almonds,  and don’t miss Mum’s Secret cake for dessert – it’s a Tres Leches Cake with a twist!  Price: $40.
