Sandy Surrey

The beach isn’t always the first thing you think about when you visit Surrey, but it should be.

Crescent Beach has been a summer destination for centuries. Long before the colonial era, the local First Nations communities enjoyed it for its clamming and cranberry picking and in recent years, the reasons to come visit have only increased. Let’s head down to the seaside…

At a glance, Crescent beach breaks down something like this: beach access can be found on Beecher, Sullivan and Target Street. Blackie Spit Park also backs onto the shore and has plenty of parking, tons of trails and a dog-friendly area. Beecher has the best beach volleyball, Sullivan’s got great grass for picnicking and a roped in swimming area for the kids and Blackie Spit is nearest to the Pier. (got it?) But there’s more:

Hooked!

As far as beachfront restaurants go, it doesn’t get better than Hooked Fish Bar. Since 2011, this salty destination has been serving up the daily catch on a wrap-around deck that features breathtaking oceanic views peppered with the picturesque Gulf Islands. This fully licensed Surrey favourite is an excellent place for bird watching too, whether you’re there for the frolicking young eagles (no, for real!) or the Wild Turkey. With its laid-back surf-shack feel, vibrant decor and menu items starring fish, oysters and mussels you’ll be… how should we put this… hooked.
