Celebrate Pride - Events Happening this June
Every June, communities across Canada recognize Pride Month. It is a celebration of people coming together in love, diversity and inclusivity to show how far LGBTQQIA2S+ rights have come while acknowledging their history and the hardships they have endured, and the impact that this important segment of our community has had on society at all
More information about the different events happening around the city is below, and visit the official Surrey Pride website for events happening throughout the month. Visit the atrium at Surrey City Hall to check out a Surrey Pride display celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Surrey Pride Society, and watch for the lights at Civic Plaza to display the colours of the pride flag from June 22 to June 28, 2024.
Rainbow Gala & Awards Night
June 1 | Atrium, City Hall
Pride Month kicks off in Surrey with the inaugural Rainbow Gala and Awards Night. This red carpet affair will feature a 3-course sit-down dinner, live music courtesy of The Apartment, a drag show, a silent auction, an awards presentation and the unveiling of the digital wall of honour.
Queer Bellwethers: Ones Who Take The Initiative
June 7 | Museum of Surrey
Find out who takes the initiative on Friday, June 7 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm when ten QUIRK-E writers and visual artists share their work. With high jinks and high energy promised, this free event is not to be missed.
Rainbow Family Storytimes
June 8 - Clayton Library | June 15 - City Centre Library
Visit Surrey's libraries for inclusive themed stories and songs for the whole family! After the 30-minute storytime, there will be playtime with LEGO®, DUPLO®, and other activities. Families in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and allies are all welcome to join and connect with other families. This program is for children of all ages and their caregivers.
Surrey Pride Festival 25th Anniversary
June 22 | Surrey Civic Plaza
June 22 marks the 25th anniversary of the Surrey's first Pride festival. Running from 1:30 pm to 8:00 pm, this family-friendly festival hosts a number of events including vendor booths, live music, drag shows, lip syncs, and performance art all located at Civic Plaza. Come out and show some love to the LGBTQQIA2S+ community!
Teen pride Jam
June 28 | City Centre Library
The City Centre Teen Library Council invites everyone to join them for 2SLGBTQIA+ themed trivia, crafts, and activities. Paint tote bags, make buttons, or sing your heart out in karaoke. There's something for everyone! Snacks will be provided and all attendees will be entered to win a gift card! This program is for teens ages 12-18.
